Mecha Genre

A genre centered around robots—especially giant ones, usually piloted by humans. In mecha stories, these machines (often called “mechs” or “mechas”) aren’t just cool tech—they're often symbols of power, war, or human ambition. You’ll find them in futuristic sci-fi settings, military dramas, or even romantic subplots with a side of giant robot combat. Some mecha stories focus on the mechanics and warfare (real robot subgenre), while others lean into flashy battles and over-the-top heroes (super robot subgenre). Think Gundam, Neon Genesis Evangelion, or Code Geass. If it’s got cockpit drama and metal limbs, it’s probably mecha.
