Glossary Term
Kami
Kami (神) is the Japanese term for “deity,” “spirit,” or “divine force”—a concept central to Shintoism, where nature, ancestors, and even objects are believed to house spiritual energy. While kami are often depicted as benevolent, they can also be capricious, vengeful, or… spicy. In manga, kami are frequently reimagined as powerful, otherworldly beings who command mountains, rivers, and even the hearts of weebs. Think of them as ancient, alluring, and always in the mood for a little divine mischief. Wink wink.
